Chinese lantern festival

In Auckland during the Chinese New Year there was the Chinese Lantern Festival (another free event). Any free event can be worth checking out. The area was quite large and easy to get lost in. There were displays of Tai chi, dancing, heaps of food stalls, and a partial martial arts display with weapons. For a free event it was quite incredible. The pictures below are barely a small sample of what I saw. If an event like this comes up in your area I would highly recommend it. As for me you know I am always on the look out for these as it is;

Holi fest auckland

Holifest was a day full of sunny hot weather, cheap tasty vegan food, an excuse to pummel each other with coloured powder (including police) and dancing to the beats. We paid $5 for a meal and paid for the bags of powder but otherwise a wonderful free event. It was an event to remind us all we are all the same the colour of your skin doesn't define you and why not just enjoy your life. I know I sure enjoyed it as it is;
