Fruit day & waterfalls

I hope the stampede is going well for all of my friends and family in Calgary! I left Vang Vieng 3 nights ago and have 1 more night left here in Luang Prabang. It has been a busy few days here and I am trying to think back on all of the events that have happened. It seems like such a long time ago but that is a common theme in a normal day. I have had a smile on my face for a good week now and things seem to be turning around. I have a lot of decisions to make in the coming days about where I am going and how I am getting there. The ride up to here was a short one with plenty of views in the mountains Laos is quite the beautiful country (pictures below).

Luang Prabang is a quiet town with stunning views of the mountains the Mekong Delta and beautiful sunsets over them. Along with some friends we crossed the rivers and saw a nearby village. One thing that bothers me in a lot of these countries is how garbage is thrown everywhere. The Mekong Delta is a very dirty looking brown colour and I would not trust going into the water or eating things from it.

Today though was a day I have been wanting for awhile. This morning me along with some travel companions we went and got some various fruits for our excursion to the waterfalls (pictures below). It was a stunning area to be in today. When you are constantly in days of 35C plus humidity you need to do things like go into the water and have lots of fruit to cool off. All of the fruity we had was really juicy and tasty. I was introduced to a few new fruits today which you can only get in Asia one of which was Mangosteen wow this is really tasty and juicy I will be eating this a lot more before I leave for New Zealand. Right now I am joensing to get some more of the fruit but I have to wait for the market to open. When you have fruits that taste this good you do not miss those tasteless boring fruits you get back home which some of you are eating right now.......

Tuna Tom

Mangosteen

Rambutan
