A beautiful city being ruined by drugs but with hope

This is a post I have been waiting to publish for nearly a month. Some of you may not agree on my views against drugs but please remember these are my views

Hello my lovely readers! I just woke up from a siesta and the power is out so why not come on here for a bit to write. So the last time I talked I talked about the road to San Pedro and now this time I would like to give you a little more information about the town which breaks my heart - drugs. San Pedro really is a beautiful city but for some reason there seems to be a lot of drugs here I am not talking about a few people smoking joints I am talking about people doing coke or whatever else. I have heard many people talk about “social drug use” with drugs such as coke but that is not something I believe in. In one sense who am I to judge people from doing drugs as I like to drink myself (hey we have all been to the stampede don’t judge my drinking!) but honestly if your life is at the bottom or a bottle or the end of a needle, up your nose with a straw whatever you are a loser plain and simple. You go to a bar and see 4 people come out of a stall together, all over the place and you hear people talking so openly about the coke and where it is from you could swear they are ordering a coffee. So how are drugs ruining this city? I get woken up and see the beautiful lakes surrounding mountains and hear children singing beautiful songs and they are being surrounded by people who instead of hearing and seeing the beauty need to get wrecked on whatever drugs or booze to “see life” or “find meaning” get a life!

Sometimes I ask myself what should and shouldn’t I write on here as how will an outsider look at what I am writing. There is a good side to this city though and this post! I went to a shop and was purchasing a few things while using my limited Spanish. I asked the shop keep for a picture and then I saw her kids and asked if it was ok to take a picture which she said yes. Her little daughter was such a sweetheart that if she can’t steal your heart and and make you think about your life then you are a cold cold person. I am writing this on Thursday February 12 but will not be able to post it until I return on March 6th or so :(
This little girl told me her name and it said it was nice to meet you. On my way out her mom told her to say goodbye and this little girl shook my hand and immediately made a fist so I could bump my fist with hers and to me it was very cute. For those who do not know a fist bump is a very Jamaican thing followed by respect man in Guatemala two guys will slap each others hands and then do a fist bump (go ask some guy around they will know a fist bump). I would like to think I went to this drug filled city, to that shop and met that little girl to realize in my heart there are a lot of good people out there and we need to do what is right they are our future and we need to take care of anyone we see.
