I am sweating in a bus terminal wanting to jump in a pool instead I am waiting for my ride to the airport choking back a tear in my eye. As much as I would like to stay it is time to move on I stayed long enough to enjoy it but not to long to hate it. My views have been forever corrupted in the best possible way. Travelling has a way of changing you I look at my arm and see bracelets some of them are just from the open bar parties I went to yet I will keep them on until they fall off or I get tired of looking at them. It is weird and hard to explain how a cheap bracelet, or necklace will make you feel “free” we have all bought cheap stuff like that while travelling. I am having a lot of difficulties trying to write as I don’t know how to describe this new found freedom I have. I am 35 years old yet people think I am 27-30. My eyes see things differently it is almost like they are open for the first time.
I am now sitting on the plane from Houston to Calgary and am wondering if the last 5 weeks actually happened. My time in Central America seemed to fly by quickly. I met a lot of incredible people over the last few months but the thing that I really enjoyed was talking and I mean really talking I am sure you have seen that a few times now. It is amazing how interested people are in with what you have to say. . One of the problems with travelling is the more you travel the more you want to and the more people you talk to about their cities/countries and their experiences the more places you suddenly need to go to.
I am heading back to go skiing for a few weeks but I have heard the ski resorts are really lacking good snow. One of the places I will be going to is Whitefish Montana. There is a hostel I stay at in Whitefish that I absolutely love as it is extremely comfortable and has a good homey feel. The girls who run it are sisters and really nice. If you ever go there you need to have a huckleberry chocolate chip muffin although I will warn you now if you have one you will want more and huckleberries are expensive as hell!. Part of the reason I am going to Montana is it is good and cheap and although I will be detoxing if I go out for a night of drinking there it will only cost 20 USD compared to Banff where it would cost heaps more. People in Montana are extremely friendly and absolutely love Canadians. Ok so back to the “detoxing”. The Whitefish hostel has lots of good vegan/vegetarian soups and salads - I know what you are thinking your blog name is Tuna Tom we all know you love bacon and meats so why talk about vegan soups and salads? I want to try out some of the tasty soups and salads to hopefully help burn my weight down a little and after eating hardly any veggies while travelling I could use some really good healthy food - when I post the pictures you will understand and I will still be getting bacon and eggs for breakfast the odd day and tins of tuna. I am getting hungry just thinking about it now.
I am going to an amazing hotel tonight with heated tiles in the bathroom - yeah that is right heated tiles, a gym, a pool, room service. Can you tell I am stuck on a plane with nothing else to do? Ok you are likely tired of reading and I am tired of writing safe travels everyone.
